Carton House, one of Ireland’s leading luxury resorts and three-time host to the Irish Open, has appointed PGA professional David Kearney as their new Director of Golf, commencing January 2017.

A world-renowned and highly respected PGA professional and as Director of the Irish Ladies Golf Union High Performance Unit, David brings his 26 years’ experience as a PGA Professional to his new home of golf in the heart of Maynooth, Co Kildare.

With a reputable career spanning over three decades, Mayo man Kearney’s vocation takes him all over the world where he has been honored to represent the ILGU, the R&A and the PGAs of Europe. What began as an assistant professional position at The Royal County Down Golf Club in Northern Ireland, Kearney moved onto roles such as Director of Golf at The National Golf Club of Turkey in Antalya and National Coach to the Turkish Golf Federation to Ireland’s only Golf Coaching Consultant to the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland. Now fresh from leading the Irish ladies team to bronze glory at this year’s World Amateur Team Championships in Mexico, David joins Carton House from his role as Head Professional at Grange Golf Club. Here he hopes to bring some of that experience to assist the rest of the team in hosting a successful World Amateur Championships in 2018 at Carton House.

Adrian Mc Laughlin, General Manager at Carton House, says:

“We are very much looking forward to David joining the team in January. Thanks to his experience as a PGA professional and as his role managing the Irish Ladies Golf Union High Performance Unit, David makes for a fantastic addition to the team. His world class credentials and distinguished career as a professional mentor and coach will be invaluable to this new role. He understands our drive for excellence in all areas, delivering a memorable experience to those that choose to walk our two championship courses in the same footsteps of golfing greats.”

David Kearney, Director of Golf at Carton House, says:

“I am very excited to be joining the team at Carton House. Having enjoyed many years with the PGA and with my extensive career with golf institutions abroad, I hope to build on my relationships to promote Carton House as the first-class destination it is famed for. Whilst continuing my role at the High Performance Unit with the Irish Ladies Golf Union, I look forward to contributing, along with the rest of the team, to make the Carton House experience a memorable one for all existing and new members, golfing and hotel guests.”

Carton House is home to the Golfing Union of Ireland and two of Ireland’s finest parkland championship courses, The O’Meara and The Montgomerie, both of which have been played on by golfing greats and are an unmissable experience for all golf enthusiasts.
